Weston Selectboard chair resigns mid-meeting; ethics complaints filed with town counsel

Board members asked Benson to reconsider, but he stood by his decision and left the meeting. At the close of the meeting, attendee Ken Hall presented three ethics complaints—two naming Selectboard member Jim Linville and one naming Katie Fitzpatrick—to Administrative Assistant Patty Greene-Pawelczyk for delivery to Town Counsel. The minutes state Benson asked the assistant to give the complaints to Town Counsel.
The resignation took place after a full agenda that included routine approvals, infrastructure discussions and a public hearing on zoning changes. The Selectboard did not take a vote to accept or reject Benson's resignation during the meeting; minutes indicate the meeting was adjourned after Benson left.
