All five district middle schools earn 'Schools to Watch' designation

The Norwalk‑La Mirada Unified School District recognized a district milestone at its Feb. 23 meeting: all five district middle schools now hold the Schools to Watch designation.
Chris Hargraves, the district public information officer, told the board that “for the 1st time in district history, all 5 of our middle schools simultaneously hold schools to watch designation.” The presentation named Hutchinson, Los Elizos/Los Solisos, Benton, Corvallis and Waite middle schools and highlighted principal and program achievements for each site.
The Schools to Watch designation recognizes middle schools that demonstrate academic excellence, developmental responsiveness and social equity; district staff described the designation process, validation visits, and the three‑year award period. Principals and site staff were invited to the front of the room for recognition and applause.
