Hartland Township trustees voted to engage a third-party appraiser for tax-tribunal case 25-000900-TT filed by Ramco Properties and approved a related budget amendment. Amanda from the assessing department told the board Ramco’s appeal covers six parcels (about 40 acres) adjacent to the Meijer site and said the township’s current combined valuation for those parcels is "about 2,400,000 for all of it."
Amanda said Valbridge provided an estimate of $20,000 to appraise the six parcels and an additional $3,600 to cover up to roughly 12 hours of appraiser time for depositions or court attendance, for a total request of $23,600. She noted the assessing budget already includes $10,000 for appraisal work and that the packet contained a typo: the budget amendment needed is $13,600, not $13,000. The valuation disclosure must be filed with the tribunal in August and the appraiser needs about six weeks to complete the work.
On a motion to engage the appraiser and amend the budget, the board voted in favor by voice; the motion was moved and supported as recorded in the meeting. The board adopted the motion with no recorded dissent. The township will proceed to submit the valuation disclosure to the tribunal and engage Valbridge to prepare the independent appraisal.
