Teachers tell Norwalk-La Mirada board to restore collaboration, clarity and oversight

Denise D'Agamal, a 30-year district educator, told the board: "Holding the superintendent accountable is good governance. I urge you to act with clarity and courage." Several speakers said district committees and the superintendent's cabinet had been dismantled, leaving decisions centralized and communication inconsistent.
Speakers requested concrete steps: reinstate professional development and teacher committees, restore the superintendent's cabinet to its original function, and carry out a transparent evaluation of district leadership. The board did not offer a substantive response during public comment; the meeting proceeded to a closed session and later an announcement about the superintendent's resignation.
