Conservation commission backs hydrogeologic assessment for North Haven expansion

Commissioners discussed a developer's request related to a proposed North Haven expansion and the planning board's May 7 direction that the applicant obtain a hydrogeologic assessment. Sam Scharf and other members reported neighbors' water-quality complaints; the planning board had previously asked for a professional hydrogeologist to assess potential groundwater impacts and the applicant now says it cannot secure a consultant.

Members agreed to draft a letter to the planning board stating the commission's position: the hydrogeologic assessment should be completed and provided prior to any approvals. Brian Lightbody and others volunteered to prepare a draft for distribution to commissioners so it could be sent before the planning-board meeting.
