DPW says sewer lining, other fixes have ended recent overflows; staffing remains strained

At the Aug. 7 Conservation Commission meeting, Dave (DPW) summarized recent wastewater work and system performance. He told the commission the town completed lining, other collection-system improvements and has not experienced recent sanitary-sewer overflows: "we haven't had 1 of those in 2 years." He said those upgrades reduce run-related infiltration and are part of the town's schedule of compliance with the state.
Dave also described staffing challenges after a recent vacancy, saying hiring to backfill roles is underway but that workloads are creating scheduling pressures for seasonal sidewalk, landscaping and tree work. Commissioners thanked DPW for the improvements and discussed coordinating street-tree plantings with the Park Street rebuild timetable so new trees are sited after sidewalk and underground work is finished.
