San Bernardino Unified swears in returning student board member, honors student selected for Girls State

The San Bernardino City Unified School District Board of Education swore in returning student board member Aiden Hurtado during its July 21 meeting and recognized Arroyo Valley High senior Ariana Pina for her selection to the California Girls State program.
Mary Rowe Goodwin, the district's director of communications and community relations, introduced the ceremonies and invited Assistant Superintendent Sandra Rodriguez to present the student representative. Board President Myra Ceballos administered the oath to Hurtado. Goodwin said the district will honor additional Girls State and Boys State participants at a future meeting and thanked the American Legion for supporting the leadership programs.
"Ariana, your dedication, leadership, and and commitment to your community have earned you this remarkable honor," Goodwin said during the presentation. The board and district leaders asked the public to join them in congratulating the students and noted the items would also be recognized at an upcoming meeting.
