Board recognizes student-athletes and a nationally honored VAPA teacher

The Jan. 13 meeting included multiple recognition items. Andy Boone, principal at San Marin High School, highlighted an inaugural MCAL flag-football championship for the Samarin Mustangs and individual league awards for athletes, inviting players and coaches to the front for photos and acknowledgement.
The board also recognized Phil Chidell, a VAPA lead, for national recognition by the All American High School Film Festival. District staff described the award as similar to a "student Emmy" and praised Chidell’s mentorship and program work.
Board members congratulated students, coaches and staff for athletic and arts achievements and took photos at the meeting.
