Trustees split over Edgenuity/Ingenuity independent-study contract; concerns about academic integrity and student outcomes

Trustee Bridal said he was "not convinced that it's a good investment" and asked whether the platform evolves its item banks; another trustee noted remote independent-study formats can leave students with insufficient monitoring.
District staff and program leaders argued the software is an operational necessity for many continuation and credit-recovery students who arrive far behind in credits. They noted the platform provides logs and administrative tools to monitor student logins and progress and that, in many cases, students cannot feasibly recover credits without self-paced online modules. Trustees asked staff to review alternatives and promised they would consider programs with stronger assessment and anti-cheating features for future procurement cycles.
