Council votes to enter closed session on appointees, property matters, litigation and bond matter

Near the end of the work session, council moved to convene a closed session under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act exemptions. The clerk read the statutory bases: discussion of council appointees; acquisition of real property for public purpose related to the Kecoughtan Road corridor; disposition of publicly held real property in the Coliseum Central area where open discussion would harm bargaining position; and consultation with legal counsel on opioid litigation and a bond matter.
A motion and second were made and council proceeded to a roll‑call vote. The clerk recorded unanimous 'Aye' votes from Vice Mayor Curtis, Councilman Gray, Councilman Hobbs, Councilman Moffitt, Councilwoman Schmidt, Councilwoman Sneed and Mayor Ted Tuck. Council planned to reconvene in the Lawson Conference Room.
