Muttontown board adopts short-term rental permit law after SEQRA review

Before adopting the local law, the board declared the Village of Muttontown lead agency for SEQRA purposes (Resolution 26-72) and concluded after review that "no significant adverse environmental impacts will result" under 6 NYCRR §617.7(c) (Resolution 26-73). Acting Clerk/Treasurer Joe Russo confirmed required SEQRA notices were mailed and noted a single response from the Nassau County Planning Commission that deferred to the village board.
The short-term rental measure adds a permit regime to the village code and will now proceed to implementation steps directed by the board and village staff. A separate public hearing was set on July 8, 2026 to consider Local Law 3 of 2026, which would repeal Local Law 1 of 2026; the board also recorded routine administrative votes and approvals during the June 17 meeting.
