Staff presented the Activities Committee's request for exclusive use of the Norman P. Murray Community Center for the Springtime in Paris boutique on March 28, 2026, with setup the day before; staff estimated the event would draw about 2,000 attendees and 83 vendors. Staff noted this is one of three annual Activities Committee events that take over the facility and that those events have historically been approved without charging the committee for facility use.
Commissioners discussed whether the Activities Committee pays fees for those events (staff said it does not), community benefits of the events, and whether the commission should limit how often the facility is closed for outside events. Following discussion a motion to approve the reservation passed with a recorded tally of 5 yes and 2 abstentions.
