Measure U bond update: projects in design, bids under way; oversight committee reports district in compliance

Dan (S19) presented the Measure U construction bond update and outlined projects in design, out to bid, in progress and completed. Work described included kitchen assessments, relocation/reconfiguration of two portables at Majestic Way, fire alarm work at Sierramont and Ruskin, exterior window replacement designs, Ruskin roof replacements for specific classrooms, and upgrades to PA and security systems across multiple sites. Dan said some bids required re-awarding due to a withdrawn low bid and showed photos of the MOT warehouse demolition and other site work.
Frank Kinsella (S3), chair of the Measure U Citizen Bond Oversight Committee, delivered the committee’s annual report covering 07/01/2024–06/30/2025. Kinsella said the committee relies on the independent performance and financial audit and found no instances of noncompliance with Proposition 39 or Measure U. He reported a bond authorization of $98,000,000, total expenditures of about $38.8 million and remaining bond funds of roughly $59.16 million; the committee highlighted completed PA, fire alarm and other site improvements and noted two open committee seats.
