Midvale opens FY2026 budget, fee schedule and salary hearings; no public comment

Administrative Services Director Mariah Hill said staff prepared a tentative budget for FY2026 (July 1, 2025'June 30, 2026) that had been presented to the Council on May 6, 2025 and is available on the city website. Hill said the municipal fee schedule review had notable changes including planned water and sewer rate increases and modest changes to planning, hydrant meter rental and sanitation fees; specific rate amounts were not specified in the staff presentation. Regarding compensation, Hill said Senate Bill 91 (2024) requires a public hearing before any proposed compensation increases for executive municipal officers; the FY2026 budget includes proposed increases for the City Manager, Assistant City Manager, HR Director/City Recorder, City Attorney, Deputy City Attorney, Public Works Director and other named executive positions.
Council opened and closed the public comment portion of each hearing after receiving no comments. Staff also proposed FY2025 General Fund amendments totaling $156,500 to cover one-time and unexpected costs, including $48,000 for Information Technology, $75,000 for litigation expenses and $20,500 for Harvest Days expenses.
