The Middlebury Community Schools board voted unanimously Aug. 4 to accept the Town of Middlebury's offer of just compensation related to two utility easements (parcels A and G) along US 20. Dr. Snyder told the board the town's offer was based on fair-market value from an Indiana certified appraiser and would also cover damages such as signage or fencing; "The total amount of proposed compensation for the repairs and both easements is $12,670," he said.
Board members moved to approve the utility-easement agreements and the compensation; the motion passed by voice vote, 5–0. The board asked that school legal counsel be available to answer questions as needed, and the district will coordinate next steps related to easement execution and any on-site repairs.
