Port Barre Mayor John P. Ardoin said the council considered sealed bids for surplus town vehicles at its regular meeting on Aug. 4, 2026. Town Clerk Toria V. Comeaux opened the bids and presented offers for multiple vehicles ranging in model years from approximately 2009 to 2016; the record shows bids submitted by JJ Merchant. On a motion by Councilmember Robin, seconded by Councilmember Kimble, the council voted to accept the bids unanimously.
The minutes list specific vehicles and VIN references in the bid packet; the council did not include dollar totals in the meeting summary beyond the amounts recorded in the bid submissions. The action was taken as a single vote to accept all bids from JJ Merchant rather than individual motions for each vehicle.
