Commissioners praise sheriff's youth camp and recent active-shooter exercise as county emergency preparedness effort

Commissioner Costanza used his remarks to thank the sheriff and county agencies for hosting a youth camp and a recent active-shooter exercise at Montgomery Catholic. He described agency collaboration and credited local first-responders for the scale of participation.
"We had about a 175 people come to Montgomery Catholic and put on a an active shooter drill exercise," Costanza said, noting participation from the sheriff's office, emergency management (EMA), the 9-1-1 center, MPD, SWAT, hospitals, and Montgomery Fire Rescue. He called the exercise part of months of planning and table-top preparation and said a post-operation debrief phase would follow.
Costanza also praised the county's strategic-plan work and encouraged commissioners to consider committee structures to support implementation as the budget process continues.
