Mendon board approves $3,500 contract to clean Silver Street nuisance property

The Mendon Township board approved spending $3,500 to clean up the Geraldine Fries property on Silver Street after receiving complaints from neighbors.
Zoning administrator Mike Haydon told the board he had obtained two bids to clean the property and sought approval to proceed. "I have provided two (2) different bids for the clean up of this property. At this point I am looking for approval to clean this up," Haydon said during the July 7 meeting.
On a motion by Treasurer Jan Griffith supported by Trustee Jim Hart, the board voted to hire Rusk Excavating for $3,500 to complete the work. The motion carried. Haydon said he receives frequent calls from neighbors about the parcel and will coordinate with the contractor and property owners on the cleanup.
