Williamstown joins six-town climate pilot; outreach meeting set for April 25

The Williamstown Planning Commission confirmed on March 11 that the town is one of six municipalities taking part in a Municipal Climate Planning Pilot Program. Chair Rich Turner listed the participating towns: "They are - -Williamstown, Wallingford, Lyndon, Rutland, Bristol and Essex Jct.," and said he will coordinate with the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CVRPC) to determine what the pilot will require of Williamstown.
Commissioners agreed to hold a public outreach meeting to share pilot materials and gather resident feedback. The commission picked Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. as the tentative meeting time and discussed renting the Masonic Lodge as a venue. Susan Lyons volunteered to "check with the Pub and Dominoes for pricing on pizza and also with Dollar General for pricing on plates, napkins and drinks," and to contact the Eastern Star/Masonic organizers about weekend availability. The group estimated planning for about 40–50 attendees, noting about 80 people responded to the town survey.
