During the Truth in Taxation public hearing on Aug. 4, two residents spoke about the proposed tax increase and FY2027 budget. Robin Hall said she was "always opposed to property tax increases," suggested the city consider reducing the size of the five-member council to save money, and volunteered three days a week to help reduce costs.
Devin Allen told the council he supports funding for police and fire but asked officials to consider alternative revenue or cost-saving measures such as community fundraisers and further review of city expenses. "I think these are good purposes that we need in our city, especially the police department, fire department. I want them to get the support they need," Allen said, while adding that residents might be willing to contribute through other means.
