Staff lead (S8) told the council the recommendation and discussion tonight would allow staff to refine assumptions, partner with finance and HR, and return with more detailed materials. "So we'll take the direction tonight, and that'll allow us to go run more numbers and look at job descriptions," S8 said. Staff emphasized they will not post a job before council reviews the refined options.
Council members also heard a proposed timeline: code cleanup and recruitment work would occur over the winter, with a spring implementation window when peak code-enforcement season begins. Staff said they have limited wiggle room in the current budget and that a midyear budget amendment would be required if the council chose to fund a position before the next fiscal year.
