The Forney City Council held a public hearing Aug. 4 and voted to approve the proposed FY2027 budget for the Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD), adopting the recommendation previously approved by the CCPD board.
City attorney John Thatcher explained that under Texas Local Government Code §363.205 the council's role at this hearing is limited to approving or rejecting the board's recommended budget and not to amend it. There were no public speakers on the CCPD budget during the hearing. Councilor Slinsker moved to approve the budget and Councilor Weatherford seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
The council's approval places the CCPD allocation into the city's general maintenance operations budget moving forward, as staff described on the record. No amendments to the board's recommended figures were made during the council vote.
