Residents urge Avon board to expand audit committee, lower taxes and improve teacher pay

During the public‑comment portion, resident Deb Spratt urged the board to consider expanding Audit Committee membership before the July reorganizational meeting and said that in looking at area tax rates since 2012, Avon appears to be at the top of the region’s rates. She said she is "not looking for a refund but would like consideration given to dropping the tax rate, along with helping to increase staff pay." Patrick Climie and other residents thanked the board for responses to prior questions and sought additional opportunities for extended dialogue.
Other commenters—including Jim Dolgos, Mike Garrett and Amanda Schroeder—pressed the board on teacher pay and asked when projection reports and fiscal‑year information would be available. The board replied that projection reports would be presented at the Feb. 10 meeting and confirmed that the fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30.
