Council members approved Ordinance No. 2024-038 on Oct. 21, authorizing the Village Manager to enter into a contract with EJR Construction in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for repair or replacement of the Government Center roof. The council waived the two-reading requirement (motion by Mr. Chris Colvin, second by Mr. Zack Gallagher) and then approved the emergency adoption (motion by Mr. Brian Blankenship, second by Mr. Lyle Anthony). The roll-call vote was seven yeas.
Gary Copeland reported the roof suffered damage in a September wind storm; the Village’s insurance was contacted, an adjuster examined the roof, and Copeland obtained three quotes. He told council the emergency designation was to ensure the roof is replaced before further damage occurs.
