The Department of Community Resources presented a public hearing on a proposed budget amendment reallocating $154,500 within the opioid restitution fund to create a miscellaneous expense category to support FY2026 opioid mitigation awards and program administration.
Director Jennifer Moreland explained the county has received more than $1.3 million in opioid restitution funds and that the department recommended reallocating $154,500 to ensure adequate funding for an annual grant cycle. "The county has received more than 1,300,000 in opioid restitution funds in response to the impacts of the opioid epidemic to support eligible uses," she told the board.
After staff questions and short discussion about eligible applicants and program restrictions, a motion to leave the record open for 10 days was made and seconded; the board voted and the motion carried. Staff will return with recommendations at a later meeting and any appropriation would occur only after the statutorily required waiting period.
