Grand Prairie Public Library staff announced the launch of the 2026 Summer Reading Club, themed "reading is totally rad," with launch events that drew more than 500 kids, teens and adults and activities across the city's three library locations through Aug. 8. Library presenters said the program revives 1980s-themed music, fashion and pop-culture elements and aims to keep readers engaged through summer programs.
Staff described the Beanstack app as the tool for signing up and tracking reading: patrons create an account with Grand Prairie Public Library, select a reading challenge, join it and log reading on their phones. Library presenters said that after logging five hours of reading, children can receive a free book, a prize from a treasure box or a coupon; rewards for teens and adults were also mentioned.
