The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval July 14 for a specific-use permit for a tattoo and body-piercing studio at 2100 North Highway 360, Suite 1100B.
Staff told commissioners the 505-square-foot suite fits the allowed locations in the Unified Development Code and meets parking and operating-hour rules; the proposed owner-operator is licensed with required state certifications and OSHA blood-borne-pathogen training. Staff sent nine notices to surrounding properties and received no letters of support or opposition. Maya Sultana, who said she lives in Grand Prairie, spoke in support and emphasized a focus on safety, appointment-only service and a welcoming environment.
Commissioner John Federco moved to close public comment and approve the SUP per DRC recommendations; the motion passed unanimously. The permit will be forwarded to city council as the next step.
