Committee removes library parking-lot replacement from CIP amid budget cuts
Summary
Citing the relative priority and the lot's condition, the committee voted 4–1 to remove the library parking-lot project from the 2027 CIP. Facilities staff said the lot has exceeded typical lifespan and requires full replacement rather than continued patching.

Councilmember Janssen moved to remove the library parking-lot project (item 27-107) from the proposed CIP, saying the repair could wait while other priorities are addressed. Facilities staff told the committee the lot is about 30 years old and receives heavy daily traffic, and that seal-and-fill approaches would be temporary because the underlying structure has deteriorated.
The motion to remove the parking lot project carried 4–1. Councilmembers said they remain open to revisiting the need if it becomes a public-safety concern, and requested staff provide age and condition documentation for the lot to the committee.
