Vernon County WIC reports state closeout, FMNP progress; board approves final 2025 budget

WIC staff reported a successful six-month state close-out and FMNP operations halfway through the season; the board approved the WIC final 2025 Budget Resolution Aug. 13.
WIC staff told the Vernon County Board of Health that the program completed a six-month close-out meeting with the state and that Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) activity is proceeding, with the season about halfway complete.
Staff said the state will perform a mandated inspection of the Viroqua Market in September or October; Hanson IGA in Westby was inspected in July without issues and compliance paperwork was sent to the state. The board then approved the final 2025 WIC Budget Resolution (motion by Martha Olson, second by Frank Easterday); the vote was recorded as unanimous.
Staff also reported that the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program currently has 75% of its funding in place, with the remaining 25% to be sent later by the state WIC office.
