Vernon County public health director reports upcoming medical-director vacancy; board approves advisor and vaccine policies

The Vernon County Health Department informed the board that Dr. Prior, the current medical director, is retiring and that staff are working to identify a successor. The board approved a new Medical Advisor Policy (motion by David Eggen, second by Lonnie Muller) intended to clarify clinical oversight while the department recruits a replacement.
At the same meeting the board approved a Vaccine Policy (moved by Martha Olson, seconded by Frank Easterday). Staff also reported they are updating the Public Health Assistant job description to 'Community Health Worker' to position the department for a collaborative grant opportunity with Stonehouse Counseling and UW Extension to support people affected by interpersonal violence.
