New View Industries to host summer vocational program for 21 youth; public health proposals suggested for future

Will Kline, Vocational Services Manager, updated the committee on New View Industries’ youth summer program. "This year there are 21 youth participating in the program which is roughly 13% of youth enrolled in the CLTS program," Kline reported. He said 14 staff were hired for the season, including several returning employees, and listed planned activities: camping, fishing, a Fourth of July celebration marking 250 years of U.S. independence, cooking classes, visits to botanical gardens, and intergenerational activities with elders.
Committee member Amy Longsine highlighted Public Health initiatives that could align with or expand the program in future years, including a bike rodeo, Safety Town, and personal-hygiene education. The committee discussed staffing continuity and participant selection; no formal action or funding decision was made at the meeting.
