Council appoints David Larson to vacant Wales Town Council seat

The Wales Town Council unanimously appointed David Larson to a vacant council seat at its Feb. 3, 2026 meeting. Council member Brandon Rees nominated Larson; the council voted in favor with Mayor James Roberts and council members Helen Clawson, Brandon Rees and Brian Smith recorded as voting yes. Kevin Washburn, the town clerk, administered the oath and Larson was sworn in immediately.
The appointment followed a short Q&A with the three finalists — Byron Davies, Ron Thompson and David Larson — during which Davies withdrew his application and was thanked for his years of service. The council did not record any opposing votes. The appointment will bring Larson into the council's ongoing discussions on water infrastructure and budgeting this year.
