Township officials announced Aug. 3 that Cecil Township was awarded a $71,500 Generations grant to renovate the senior‑center room. The planned overhaul includes new flooring, paint, built‑in storage, and updated furniture; public works will assist with demolition and installation.
Officials said the work has a firm completion date of Nov. 1, which will require a temporary closure of the senior center likely from Oct. 3 to Nov. 1. The township said it is working with the fire department and area agency on aging to maintain meal service and provide a temporary gathering space for seniors. "There's no cost to the taxpayers," a township official said while acknowledging the project timeline is tight.
Staff credited Jason Ortitai for assistance pursuing the grant and said they will post relocation details for seniors as the schedule is finalized.
