$250,000 Planning Grant Awarded for WLHS Track and Football Field, Pending Bond Commission Approval

Superintendent Shawn Parkhurst told the board he met with KBA Architects about a $250,000 planning grant awarded from the Community Investment Fund to support design and pre-construction work for Windsor Locks High School's track and football field.
"At this time, we are in a holding pattern until the state Bond Commission formally approves the grant recipients and then following that the work will be to engage in the development of a Design Fee Proposal to do all the engineering and surveying work, updating drawings and plans to be shovel ready," Parkhurst said in the minutes. The planning grant covers initial design-phase work; the district said subsequent steps will include developing a design fee proposal and completing engineering and surveying once state approval is confirmed.
Board members were informed of the planning-grant award and the next procedural step (Bond Commission approval) before district staff proceed with contracting and design work.
