Rolla FFA students urge council to recruit a local veterinarian

FFA members told the Rolla City Council that a community survey found 100% of respondents travel 30–60 minutes or more for veterinary care and asked the city to explore incentives to attract veterinary services to town.
A group of FFA students—Emily Senger, Eric Good and Haley Juntunen—presented "Voices For Veterinary Services" to the Rolla City Council, urging the city to invest staff time or incentives in recruiting a veterinarian to serve the community. The students said their survey found "100% of respondents travel outside of the area for veterinary services, traveling 30-60 minutes or more for services," and they offered ideas for improvements and incentives that might make Rolla more attractive for a veterinary practice.
Council members engaged with the students and expressed support for further discussion. Rebekah Bryant, director of the Rolla JDA, introduced her role and is positioned to be involved in any economic-development responses to the students' proposal; council members said they would continue discussions about veterinary recruitment at future meetings.
