Rolla council approves application for water treatment plant design funding, notes recent tank repair

The Rolla City Council voted to authorize Interstate Engineering to submit an application to the North Dakota Department of Water Resources to cost-share engineering design for upgrades to the city’s water treatment plant, including the possibility of adding a new plant and renovating the existing facility. Mayor Kevin Juntunen reported the recommendation after a committee briefing by Wade Senger of Interstate Engineering.
Mayor Juntunen also told the council that "The leak in the GSR tank on the west side of the water treatment plant has been repaired and inspection of the tank completed." The Public Works Committee discussed adding treatment with sodium hydroxide to adjust pH levels, noted a repaired sewer line on 9th Ave NE, and said a separate flex-funding paving grant had not been approved. The council voted to proceed with the DWR design application on a motion by Booth, seconded by Schemmel; the motion carried unanimously.
