The Town of Butternuts board unanimously approved a contract authorizing Supervisor Bruce Giuda to hire Tracy and Dawn Armstrong as the primary caretakers of Copes Corner Park after current caretakers Christopher and Amanda Jones resigned effective Aug. 1, 2026. Council Member Teresa Winchester moved to authorize the contract and Paul Irwin seconded; the motion passed with all members in agreement.
The Armstrongs, listed among visitors in the meeting minutes, have camped at Copes Corner Park for five years and told the board they are interested in taking on caretaker duties. The board recorded that it will formalize a contract and move forward with the change in park staffing. "Teresa Winchester made the motion to allow Bruce Giuda to sign a contract with Tracy and Dawn Armstrong as new Caretakers, Paul Irwin seconded the motion, all agree, motion carried.", the minutes state. The motion was recorded as carried unanimously.
