Superintendent previews CAASPP results, calendar feedback and childcare expansion

Superintendent Crane told trustees the district recently received CAST and CAASPP data and will combine those results with an upcoming dashboard to report back in December. He said Middletown USD is performing ahead of other Lake County districts but remains below the state average in math, English and science, and stressed staff and administration are working to improve outcomes.
"As of before I left the office today, we had 267 responses," Crane said about the calendar survey, adding that the most popular response so far was to keep the current calendar arrangement. Crane also said the district is negotiating to expand after-school and intercession supports with provider EDMO using ELOP state funds (separate from the general fund) to provide childcare options during breaks.
Crane said the superintendent's "hundred-day" report will appear in the correspondence section and invited questions from board members and the community.
