Mayor asks council to appoint mayor pro tem, review Sports Corp reappointments; Lone Star Park transition to be discussed Aug. 10

During agenda review the mayor asked council members to make motions to appoint Curt Johnson as mayor pro tem and Jacqueline Hedden as deputy mayor pro tem, and to reappoint two Sports Development Corporation members. The mayor said staff has invited the five non‑council Sports Corp members to the next Sports Corp meeting on Aug. 10 so attorneys for Haines & Boone and Global Gaming can "give us the timeline and the rules to transition the ownership of Lone Star Park from the Sports Corp to Global Gaming next year."
Council members also asked about boards and commissions: staff noted the Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) has alternates because its quorum and voting rules require seven members, which previously made meeting quorums difficult. The mayor closed the agenda review portion and recessed the meeting until 6:30 p.m.
