The Shorewood Village Board approved the purchase of a wireless CCTV surveillance trailer for $29,995, funded by an Organized Retail Crime grant received from the attorney general's office.
The police chief told the board, "This year, we have requested money, and received $31,500 for the purchase of a mobile surveillance trailer." He described the recommended WCCTV trailer as solar powered with a 20‑foot telescoping tower, cellular connectivity, PTZ and wide‑angle cameras and a speaker that allows officers to communicate remotely. The chief said the trailer will be used at retail outlets and community events such as Crossroads Festival, Oktoberfest and the holiday market, and at 4 Seasons Park in winter months where the village has seen vandalism and vehicles driving on grass berms.
IT and technical staff confirmed the village would own the trailer (not lease) and could expand or modify the unit in the future; staff also noted a short vendor lead time. Trustee Selfridge moved and Trustee Kamas seconded; the board approved the purchase by unanimous roll call.
