Parents, former principals and students urge board to preserve campus supervisors and translation services

Several speakers used the district's public comment period to press trustees to reconsider cuts that would eliminate campus supervisors and a translator. Peyton Emerson, a Coyote Valley fifth‑grader, described the campus supervisor as "the superhero of our school" who greets students, leads activities and helps create a safe environment. Former principals and parents argued the campus supervisor position supports behavior interventions, special‑education needs and bus supervision that would otherwise fall to administrators.

A group of Latino parents (represented in Spanish by Nimbe Gonzalez) said elimination of the translator position would harm newcomer families' ability to engage with the school and called attention to what they referred to as a "bilingual service act" obligation to provide interpreters. Parent speaker Jenny Lacy criticized last year's budget cut process as uneven and urged the board to target cuts at administrative leadership before positions that directly support students.

Speakers urged the board to weigh alternatives that avoid direct cuts to classified staff who work with children; multiple presenters asked for transparent numbers and continued dialogue as the board finalizes its deficit elimination plan.
