The Middletown Unified School District Board of Trustees held its annual organizational meeting, electing Zoey Briscoe as board president and approving Annette Lee as clerk and Superintendent Jeff Crane as board secretary for 2025.
Trustee Chris nominated Briscoe for president; she accepted the nomination and the board approved the motion by voice vote. Trustees later moved and approved the clerk and secretary appointments in separate motions. "Thank you," Briscoe said after the vote as trustees congratulated the newly appointed officers.
The board also approved the proposed 2025 meeting calendar, which schedules regular meetings on Wednesdays. Trustees discussed whether moving to Thursdays would give community members and trustees more time to review packets, and staff noted posting constraints and current practice of releasing larger materials on Fridays to provide extra lead time. No change was made to the calendar during the meeting; members said the schedule can be revised later if needed.
The organizational actions were routine and completed at the start of the meeting so the board could proceed to reports and the 1st interim budget presentation later in the agenda.
