Police say suspect arrested within 12 hours after Sept. 16 Shorewood shootings

The Shorewood Police Chief told trustees the department made an arrest within 12 hours after shootings on Sept. 16 following door‑to‑door canvassing, review of resident video and information from license‑plate readers.
"They knocked on over 50 doors within a couple of hours that morning, developed information from video that was shared from our residents, and most importantly, the information that we got from our license plate readers that enabled us to identify the person and, where she was and have her in custody within 12 hours of the incident," the chief said. The chief added the suspect was transported to Shorewood for questioning, later transferred to the Will County adult detention facility and was being held without bond. The chief also reported that the suspect told officers "she did it" during questioning and, during a subsequent detention hearing, attempted to disarm a court deputy, according to the chief. No additional charges, court outcomes or defense statements were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The chief praised patrol officers and detectives and thanked assisting agencies for their support in the investigation.
