The Shorewood Village Board unanimously approved a $14,400 proposal with Viking Industrial to perform exterior cleaning and an interior inspection of the Walnut Trails water tower.
Public works staff explained the work occurs on a three‑year rotation for water-tower maintenance and that the interior inspection uses an IEPA‑approved rover to look for structural issues or debris unseen from the ground. "We did the work last year, totaling $14,400 for the exterior wash and interior inspection of our Walnut Trails water tower," the public works representative said. Staff said previous interior inspections have not identified major problems but noted that if defects were found the village would need to drain the tank and perform a more extensive, higher‑cost inspection and relining process.
Trustee Selfridge moved to approve the proposal and Trustee Luciano seconded; a roll call confirmed unanimous approval.
