Schiller Park swears in firefighter/paramedic, appoints auxiliary officer and bids farewell to Public Works director
Summary
Alexander H. Hernandez was sworn in as a Firefighter/Paramedic and Michael Marrazzo was appointed as an Auxiliary Police Officer (Feb. 19–Apr. 30, 2026). The board and staff publicly thanked Public Works Director Patrick Hastings, who gave a final update before departing.
At the start of the meeting Fire and Police Commissioner James Lucy administered the oath to Alexander H. Hernandez, who was sworn in as a Firefighter/Paramedic. Later in the agenda the board approved the appointment of Michael Marrazzo as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the period Feb. 19, 2026 to Apr. 30, 2026; Clerk Rosa Jos administered the oath for that appointment after the roll call.
Public Works Director Patrick Hastings delivered his final department update and trustees and department heads thanked him for his leadership and service to Schiller Park. Village Manager Brett Kryska noted the village has received favorable bids for the capital project and thanked Mr. Hastings; the minutes record appreciation but do not include remarks from Mr. Hastings beyond an expression of sadness at leaving and anticipation of new opportunities.
