Public commenters urge better-crafted measure and Prop 13 protections

Eric Greening said he would not repeat all remarks made earlier to SLOCOG but urged the board to learn from flaws in the prior measure. He criticized a county 'balancing' rule that he said made projects crossing supervisorial lines ineligible and said that lack of internal trust among jurisdictions likely hurt voter support. "You should and will be back in 2 2 years and need to learn from the flaws this time around," Greening said.
Andrea Seastrand, who identified herself as president of the Central Coast Taxpayers Association, said she was "pleased to hear the news that SLOCOG and you were going to consider removing Measure H from the November ballot" and asked the board to adopt a resolution protecting Proposition 13, warning that a loss of those protections could force seniors to sell their homes because of higher property taxes.
Neither commenter proposed a substitute revenue source; both framed their remarks around timing, fairness and the need for clearer ballot language before returning to voters.
