He said NTSDE recorded approximately a $1 million rise in tuition costs affecting District 68’s budget and had its first budget reading.
Sterbenc said NTSDE is considering a special education audit to evaluate IEP implementation and placements in the least restrictive environment while being mindful of costs; he also reported that transportation services started the year smoothly and thanked the transportation coordinator and bus provider, Northshore. The report noted interest in potential classroom space partnerships with District 219 at Old Orchard to manage demand and costs.
