Board hears questions about NIL as athletic handbook is updated

"Our policy council is looking at it, and we're expecting recommendations to add," the Superintendent said, adding that student handbooks are "living, breathing documents" that will be updated when formal guidance is available.
The Superintendent said the district will aim for flexibility and that, based on current understanding, schools "have to really stay out of that" in terms of direct involvement with commercial transactions. No formal policy was adopted at the meeting; the board recorded the public comment and the superintendent's ongoing review.
Next steps: the superintendent indicated the district will continue coordinating with coaches, parents and regional associations and will bring recommended handbook language to the board when ready.
