Superintendent Steve Murphy told the commission that the county will close the Old Adarda entrance to route traffic to a new signalized intersection, a change staff said would reduce conflict at the old, unsignalized entrance. The commission moved, seconded and voted to approve closing that entrance and asked staff to take the legal steps necessary.
Murphy also reported the city requested a specific kind of barricade at the Odom Lane gate so emergency crews could still access the route when needed. Commissioners asked staff to check with emergency services and return next month with recommendations and cost details; one commissioner said plastic barricades would not be durable and proposed placing rock if a temporary solution is needed.
