The Select Board appointed four deputy forest fire wardens to maintain the town's capacity for forest‑fire response while two existing deputies were on leave.
The board individually voted to appoint Kevin Rule, Mike Varney, Mark Bayer and Peter Varney to deputy forest fire warden positions for the town. Board members said all appointees hold required certifications and that the state provides and authorizes the deputy warden positions. "We have people who are existing members of the fire department... the state pays for that," one member said while answering questions about budgetary responsibility.
Each appointment was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote as presented. The board recorded the motions and thanked the appointees and the fire department for their service.
